A collaboratory is an open meta-laboratory that spans multiple geographical areas with collaborators interacting via electronic means. Pacific Northwest Laboratory is developing a collaboratory for more effective environmental sciences research. The project entails the development of software and hardware computing tools for dating sharing and sharing of personal expertise. The status of this project is described.
