Optical absorption of gamma-irradiated KTP crystals in the 0.9 - 2.5 {mu}m range

Additional absorption was observed in the 0.9 - 2.5 {mu}m range in a KTP crystal irradiated by gamma rays with doses up to 5 x10{sup 7} R. No additional absorption was observed in the 1.4 - 2.5 {mu}m range. Characteristics of optical parametric oscillation in a gamma-irradiated KTP crystal pumped by a pulsed Nd{sup 3+}:YAG laser at 1.064 {mu}m were studied. (nonlinear optical phenomena and devices)
