We use directly driven method to compress the iron along isentropic path. By adjusting the pulse intensity of laser to increase with time, we directly ablated the iron target with laser to achieve isentropic compression. Rear surface velocities of the iron targets were recorded by VISAR (Velocity Interferometer System for Any Reflector). The iron a (bcc) to epsilon(hcp) phase transformation was clearly observed. Experiment results were compared with simulations.
