Correlation functions for dust particles in a strongly coupled plasma are calculated using the Kirkwood approximation. The kinetic integral equation is solved in long as well as short wavelength regimes. In the long wavelength regime, the pair correlation function is of the Debye-Hueckel form with a shielding distance equal to the dust Debye length, and decays exponentially with distance. In the short wavelength regime, when the spatial scale is of the order of the inter-dust distance, the correlation function exhibits pronounced oscillations and liquid-like behavior, as seen in recent laboratory as well as numerical experiments.
