The atmospheric neutrino muon-like fraction above 1 GeV

A total of 72 atmospheric neutrino events were found in a 2.1 kton-yr exposure of data from the Irvine-Michigan-Brookhaven detector. Each event had a vertex contained inside the fiducial volume and at least 0.95 GeV of visible Cerenkov energy. The ratio of ratios: f=(muon-like/total){sub Data}/(muon-like/total){sub MC}, was found to be 1.1{sub -0.12}{sup +0.07}(stat.){+-}0.11(syst.). The zenith angle dependence of f is consistent with being flat. The regions of sin{sup 2}(2{theta})>0.5, {delta}m{sup 2}>9.8x10{sup -3}eV{sup 2} and sin{sup 2}(2{theta})>0.7, {delta}m{sup 2}>1.5x10{sup -2}eV{sup 2} have been excluded to the 90% confidence level for {nu}{sub {mu}}{yields}{nu}{sub c} and {nu}{sub {mu}}{yields}{nu}{sub {tau}} oscillations respectively.
