In order to search for the double beta decay of {sup 136}Xe, its decay daughters of {sup 136}Ba are being collected with positive ion collectors in xenon gas and liquid. A time-of-flight mass spectrometer in which Ba atoms are selectively ionized by RIS is being developed to quantitatively measure the number of Ba atoms. A new method is proposed to study the neutrinoless double beta decay of {sup 136}Xe.
