The most general quantization method is provided by the Batalin-Vilkovisky method. It is more general than the BRST method, permitting a systematic quantization of systems with an open algebra of constraints. Here the derivation of the Batalin-Vilkovisky method is studied and generalizations of the BV suggested by this approach. A connection between the Poisson bracket and the antibracket and use it to relate the Nambu bracket with the generalized n-brackets is also presented.
