After 1908 Messina and Reggio Calabria earthquake the Italian scientific community produced a considerable effort, also as a consequence of two competitions. In both contests a Piedmont engineer, Arturo Danusso, prevailed. In this paper emphasis will be put on the suggested building layout and construction details, which are far ahead of their time. Moreover, the dynamic analysis of a linear elastic undamped single- and two-degree-of freedom system, proposed by Danusso and elsewhere already discussed, will be briefly mentioned.
