The paper summarizes EPA`s municipal waste combustor (MWC) regulations, proposed in September 1994. The paper identifies the technologies on which they are based and discusses accumulated knowledge on the control of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and mercury (Hg).
