Hydrodynamic limit of the Yukawa one-component plasma

This paper presents a detailed mathematical analysis of the dynamical correlation of density fluctuations of the Yukawa one component plasma in the framework of linearized hydrodynamics. In particular, expressions for the hydrodynamic modes which hold both for the plasma and the neutral fluid are derived. This work constitutes an extension of the computation of the dynamical structure factor in the hydrodynamic limit done by Vieillefosse and Hansen [Phys. Rev. A 12, 1106 (1975)]. As a typical result of Yukawa plasma, a coupling appears between thermal and mechanical effects in the damping of the sound modes, which does not exist in the classical one component plasma. Theoretical and numerical results obtained by means of equilibrium molecular-dynamic simulations in the microcanonical ensemble are compared and discussed.
