SIMION 3D Version 6.0 is the latest version of the SIMION PC ion optics simulation program developed by the author for use on IBM compatible personal computers. Its new features and capabilities significantly broaden its applicability to ion optics and related experimental problems. Complete instruments can now be simulated. The new 3D capability allows simulation of quadrupoles including end regions, 3D ICR cells, and 3D source and detector geometry. Enhancements in user programming allow simulations involving viscous or collisional cooling for ion mobility simulations. A new charge repulsion capability allows detection of the onset of charge repulsion problems as well simulating things like combined repulsion and cooling effects in ion traps.
