The NA61-SHINE experiment at CERN will accurately measure the hadroproduction from interactions of 30-50 GeV proton beams on a carbon target. The precise knowledge of the inclusive spectra of pions and kaons off the target will allow the absolute determination of the neutrino flux of the T2K long baseline experiment at J-PARC, Japan. This paper describes at first the T2K goals concerning the understanding of its neutrino beam and how the NA61 setup will help in providing data for accurate predictions. The second part focuses on the impact of the NA61 measurements on the various systematic errors on the T2K neutrino flux.
