Free Electron Laser (FEL) projects for the EUV, Soft- and Hard X-ray energy range are planned at several facilities around the world and the first Free Electron Laser with a wavelength below 100 nm is already in routine user operation at DESY in Hamburg. This contribution addresses general issues of beamline design for FELs and introduces designs developed for the BESSY VUV-FEL.
