Title: Search for B decays into {eta}{sup '}p, {eta}{sup '}K*, {eta}{sup '}{phi}, {eta}{sup '}{omega} and {eta}{sup '}{eta}{sup (')}

Abstract

We report on a search for the exclusive two-body charmless hadronic B meson decays B{yields}{eta}{sup '}{rho}, B{yields}{eta}{sup '}K*, B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{phi}, B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{omega}, and B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{eta}{sup (')}. The results are obtained from a data sample containing 535x10{sup 6} BB pairs that were collected at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. We find no significant signals and report upper limits in the range (0.5-6.5)x10{sup -6} for all of the above decays.

  • We present measurements of branching fractions and charge asymmetries for six B-meson decay modes with an {eta} or {eta}{sup '} meson in the final state. The data sample corresponds to 232x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} B Factory at SLAC. We measure the branching fractions (in units of 10{sup -6}): B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup +})=5.1{+-}0.6{+-}0.3, B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}K{sup +})=3.3{+-}0.6{+-}0.3, B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}K{sup 0})=1.5{+-}0.7{+-}0.1 (<2.5 at 90% C.L.), B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{rho}{sup +})=8.4{+-}1.9{+-}1.1, B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{omega})=1.0{+-}0.5{+-}0.2 (<1.9 at 90% C.L.), and B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{pi}{sup +})=4.0{+-}0.8{+-}0.4, where the first uncertainty is statistical and second systematic.   • We search for B{sup 0} meson decays into two-body combinations of K{sup 0}, {eta}, {eta}{sup '}, and {phi} mesons in 324x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} collider at SLAC. We measure the following branching fractions (upper limits at 90% confidence level) in units of 10{sup -6}: B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}K{sup 0})=1.8{sub -0.6}{sup +0.7}{+-}0.1(<2.9), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{eta})=1.1{sub -0.4}{sup +0.5}{+-}0.1(<1.8), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{phi})=0.1{+-}0.2{+-}0.1(<0.6), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{phi})=0.2{sub -0.3}{sup +0.4}{+-}0.1(<1.0), and B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{eta}{sup '})=1.0{sub -0.6}{sup +0.8}{+-}0.1(<2.4), where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.
  • We present measurements of the branching fractions for B{sup 0}-meson decays to {eta}{sup '}K{sup 0} and {omega}K{sup 0}, and of the branching fractions and CP-violation charge asymmetries for B{sup +}-meson decays to {eta}{pi}{sup +}, {eta}K{sup +}, {eta}{sup '}{pi}{sup +}, {eta}{sup '}K{sup +}, {omega}{pi}{sup +}, and {omega}K{sup +}. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 383x10{sup 6} BB pairs produced in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation. The measurements agree with previous results; we find no evidence for direct CP violation.
  • We present improved measurements of CP-violation parameters in B{sup 0}{yields}{phi}K{sup 0}, {eta}{sup '}K{sup 0}, K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0} decays based on a sample of 535x10{sup 6} BB pairs collected at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e{sup +}e{sup -} collider. We obtain sin2{phi}{sub 1}{sup eff}=+0.64{+-}0.10(stat){+-}0.04(syst) for B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}K{sup 0}, +0.50{+-}0.21(stat){+-}0.06(syst) for B{sup 0}{yields}{phi}K{sup 0}, and +0.30{+-}0.32(stat){+-}0.08(syst) for B{sup 0}{yields}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0} decays. We have observed CP violation in the B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}K{sup 0} decay with a significance of 5.6 standard deviations.   • We present measurements of branching fractions for five B-meson decays to two-body charmless final states. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 459x10{sup 6} BB pairs. The results for branching fractions are, in units of 10{sup -6} (upper limits at 90% C.L.), B(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{rho}{sup +})=9.9{+-}1.2{+-}0.8, B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{eta})=0.5{+-}0.4{+-}0.1(<1.2), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{pi}{sup 0})=0.9{+-}0.4{+-}0.1(<1.5), B(B{sup 0}{yields}{eta}{sup '}{pi}{sup 0})=0.9{+-}0.4{+-}0.1(<1.5), and B(B{sup 0}{yields}{omega}{pi}{sup 0})=0.07{+-}0.26{+-}0.02(<0.5). The first error quoted is statistical and the second systematic. For the {eta}{rho}{sup +} mode, we measure the charge asymmetry A{sub ch}(B{sup +}{yields}{eta}{rho}{sup +})=0.13{+-}0.11{+-}0.02.
