1994 IEEE first world conference on photovoltaic energy conversion: Conference record of the twenty fourth IEEE photovoltaic specialists conference -- 1994. Volume 1
This conference represents a landmark event in this field. It is the first time a jointly planned meeting has ever been held by the three major R and D communities from the US, Japan, and Europe. The conference contained an excellent mix of papers ranging from research reports on a variety of advanced devices to results of pilot commercialization projects. Special highlight sessions and workshops on the more practical problems relating to financing, installing and operating photovoltaic power generating systems were conducted in conjunction with the World Bank, the State of Hawaii, the US Dept. of Energy and several private concerns as well. A strong area on space photovoltaic device development and system applications was also included. The papers are divided into the following topical sections: Highlights of the EUPSEC; Highlights of PVSEC; CIGS and CdTe solar cells; CIS and CIGS films and devices; CdTe film and device processing issues; CdTe and CIS film characterization and device modeling; CIS process and substrate effects; CIS and related alloys; Polycrystalline thin film materials and devices; Amorphous silicon technology; Amorphous silicon cells and modules; Amorphous silicon materials; Terrestrial photovoltaics; Module and BOS component evaluation and performance; Off grid systems; Utility and grid-connected systems; PV on buildings; System economics, market trends and issues; Module and BOS component design and manufacturing; and Off grid system applications and models. Papers have been processed separately for inclusion on the data base.
