Title: Synthesis and characteristics of a novel 3-D organic amine oxalate: (enH{sub 2}){sub 1.5}[Bi{sub 3}(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 6}(CO{sub 2}CONHCH{sub 2}CH{sub 2}NH{sub 3})].6.5H{sub 2}O

Abstract

A novel 3-D compound of (enH{sub 2}){sub 1.5}[Bi{sub 3}(C{sub 2}O{sub 4}){sub 6}(CO{sub 2}CONHCH{sub 2}CH{sub 2}NH{sub 3})].6.5H{sub 2}O has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by IR, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflection integral spectrum (UV-Vis DRIS), fluorescence spectra, TGA and single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group C2/c with a=31.110(8)A, b=11.544(3)A, c=22.583(6)A, {beta}=112.419(3){sup o}, V=7497(3)A{sup 3}, Z=8, R{sub 1}=0.0463 and wR{sub 2}=0.1393 for unique 7686 reflections I>2{sigma}(I). In the title compound, the Bi atoms have eight-fold and nine-fold coordination with respect to the oxygen atoms, with the Bi atoms in distorted dodecahedron and monocapped square antiprism, respectively. The 3-D framework of the title compound contains channels and is composed of linkages between Bi atoms and oxalate units, forming honeycomb-like layers with two kinds of 6+6 membered aperture, and pillared by oxalate ligands and monamide groups. The channels have N-ethylamine oxalate monamide group {sup -}CO{sub 2}CONHCH{sub 2}CH{sub 2}NH{sub 3}{sup +}, which is formed by the in situ reaction of en and oxalate acid. At room temperature, the complex exhibits intense blue luminescence with an emission peak at 445nm.

  • Two 2-(1-imidazole)-1-hydroxyl-1,1'-ethylidenediphosphonato and oxalic acid bridged coordination polymers (H{sub 2}en)[Co{sub 3}(H{sub 2}zdn){sub 2}(ox)(H{sub 2}O){sub 2}] (1) and Cd{sub 2}(H{sub 2}zdn)(ox){sub 0.5}(H{sub 2}O) (2) (2-(1-imidazole)-1-hydroxyl-1,1'-ethylidenediphosphonic acid=H{sub 5}zdn; oxalic acid=H{sub 2}ox) were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by the infrared (IR), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), elemental analyses (EA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Compound 1 is bridged by phosphonate anions to 1D chain, and further linked by oxalate anions to 2D layer. Compound 2 is bridged by O–P–O units of H{sub 5}zdn to the layer, and then pillared by oxalate anions to generate 3D frameworks. Compound 1 shows anti-ferromagnetic behaviors analyzed with themore » temperature-dependent zero-field ac magnetic susceptibilities, while compound 2 exhibits an influence on the luminescent property. - Graphical abstract: Linked by oxalate, two zoledronate-based metal–organic frameworks are synthesized, which exhibits the different frameworks. Magnetism and luminescent properties have been studied. The weak antiferromagnetic coupling is conducted in 1. - Highlights: • Compound 1 and 2 are first linked by oxalate anion based on zoledronic acid. • Compound 1 generates a classic “dia Diamond” (6{sup 6}) topology. • Compound 2 exhibits a (4{sup 4}·6{sup 2})(4{sup 4}·6{sup 6}) topology. • Magnetism and luminescent properties of 1 and 2 have been studied, respectively.« less
  • A new chiral one-dimensional (1D) aluminophosphate chain compound [d-Co(en){sub 3}][AlP{sub 2}O{sub 8}].6.5H{sub 2}O (designated AlPO-CJ22) has been hydrothermally synthesized by using the optically pure d-Co(en){sub 3}I{sub 3} complex as the template. Single-crystal structural analysis reveals that its structure is built up from alternating connection of AlO{sub 4} and PO{sub 2}(=O{sub 2}) tetrahedra to form corner-shared Al{sub 2}P{sub 2} four-membered ring (4-MR) chains. The d-Co(en){sub 3}{sup 3+} complex cations extended along the 2{sub 1} screw axis interact with the inorganic chains through hydrogen-bonds of N...O atoms in a helical fashion. Optical rotation measurement shows that AlPO-CJ22 is chiral as with d-Co(en){submore » 3}{sup 3+} complex cations. Compounds 1 and 2 are 3-D open-framework structures with a 6{sup 6} uniform net, which consist of honeycomb-like layers connected to each other by oxalate units. While different guest molecules fill in their cavities of honeycomb-like layers, study of ultrasonic treatment on 2 indicates the replacement of NH{sub 4}{sup +} by K{sup +} on potassium ion exchange. Thermogravimetric analysis indicates that the open-channel frameworks are thermally stable up to 200 deg.
