Title: Measurement of {gamma}{sub ee}(J/{psi}), {gamma}{sub tot}(J/{psi}), and {gamma}{sub ee}[{psi}(2S)]/{gamma}{sub ee}(J/{psi})

Abstract

Using data acquired with the CLEO detector at the CESR e{sup +}e{sup -} collider at {radical}(s)=3.773 GeV, we measure the cross section for the radiative return process e{sup +}e{sup -}{yields}{gamma}J/{psi}, J/{psi}{yields}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}, resulting in B(J/{psi}{yields}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -})x{gamma}{sub ee}(J/{psi})=0.3384{+-}0.0058{+-}0.0071 keV, {gamma}{sub ee}(J/{psi})=5.68{+-}0.11{+-}0.13 keV, and {gamma}{sub tot}(J/{psi})=95.5{+-}2.4{+-}2.4 keV, in which the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also determine the ratio {gamma}{sub ee}[{psi}(2S)]/{gamma}{sub ee}(J/{psi})=0.45{+-}0.01{+-}0.02.

  • We observe signals for the decays {psi}(3770){yields}XJ/{psi} from data acquired with the CLEO detector operating at the CESR e{sup +}e{sup -} collider with {radical}(s)=3773 MeV. We measure the following branching fractions B({psi}(3770){yields}XJ/{psi}) and significances: (189{+-}20{+-}20)x10{sup -5} (11.6{sigma}) for X={pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} (80{+-}25{+-}16)x10{sup -5} (3.4{sigma}) for X={pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}, and (87{+-}33{+-}22)x10{sup -5} (3.5{sigma}) for X={eta}, where the errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The radiative return process e{sup +}e{sup -}{yields}{gamma}{psi}(2S) populates the same event sample and is used to measure {gamma}{sub ee}[{psi}(2S)]=(2.54{+-}0.03{+-}0.11) keV.
  • We report the first observation of B{sub s}{sup 0}{yields}{psi}(2S){phi} decay in pp collisions at {radical}(s)=1.96 TeV using 360 pb{sup -1} of data collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. We observe 20.2{+-}5.0 and 12.3{+-}4.1 B{sub s}{sup 0}{yields}{psi}(2S){phi} candidates, in {psi}(2S){yields}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} and {psi}(2S){yields}J/{psi}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} decay modes, respectively. We present a measurement of the relative branching fraction B(B{sub s}{sup 0}{yields}{psi}(2S){phi})/B(B{sub s}{sup 0}{yields}J/{psi}{phi})=0.52{+-}0.13(stat){+-}0.04= (syst){+-}0.06(BR) using the {psi}(2S){yields}{mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -} decay mode.
  • We measure the ratio of cross section times branching fraction, R{sub p}={sigma}{sub {chi}{sub c}{sub 2}}B({chi}{sub c2}{yields}J/{psi}{gamma})/{sigma}{sub {chi}{sub c}{sub 1}}B({chi}{sub c1}{yields}J/{psi}{gamma}), in 1.1 fb{sup -1} of pp collisions at {radical}(s)=1.96 TeV. This measurement covers the kinematic range p{sub T}(J/{psi})>4.0 GeV/c, vertical bar {eta}(J/{psi})<1.0, and p{sub T}({gamma})>1.0 GeV/c. For events due to prompt processes, we find R{sub p}=0.395{+-}0.016(stat){+-}0.015(syst). This result represents a significant improvement in precision over previous measurements of prompt {chi}{sub c1,2} hadro production.
  • We perform the first three-dimensional measurement of the amplitudes of B{yields}{psi}(2S)K* and B{yields}{chi}{sub c1}K* decays and update our previous measurement for B{yields}J/{psi}K*. We use a data sample collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring, corresponding to 232x10{sup 6} BB pairs. The longitudinal polarization of decays involving a J{sup PC}=1{sup ++} {chi}{sub c1} meson is found to be larger than that with a 1{sup --} J/{psi} or {psi}(2S) meson. No direct CP-violating charge asymmetry is observed.
