Title: Soliton with a pion field in the global color symmetry model

Abstract

We calculate the property of the global color symmetry soliton with the pion field being included explicitly. The calculated results indicate that the pion field provides a strong attraction so that the eigenenergy of a quark and the mass of a soliton reduce drastically, in contrast to those with only the sigma field.

  • With a sophisticated effective gluon propagator, Maris-Tandy model, we solve the Dyson-Schwinger equation to get the quark propagator and then study the soliton solution in the global color model (GCM). Along the constraints on the parameters fitted to the pion decay constant, we take several sets of parameters and find that some of the properties of soliton can be produced in the GCM soliton model with a special choice of parameters. We also discuss the influences of the parameters and the ultraviolet perturbative term on the property of the soliton. We find that the interaction among quarks is the onemore » with self-adjusting characteristic and only the fine-tuned interaction can generate an appropriate solition, but not that much stronger attraction produces more stable soliton.« less
  • We study the pion-nucleon sigma term in vacuum and in nuclear matter in the framework of global color model of QCD. With the effective gluon propagator being taken as the {delta}-function in momentum space of Munczek-Nomirovsky model, we estimate that the sigma term at chiral limit in the vacuum is 9/2 times the current quark mass and it decreases with the nuclear matter density. With the presently obtained in-medium pion-nucleon sigma term, we study the in-medium chiral quark condensate and obtain a reasonable variation behavior against the nuclear matter density.
  • The authors consider the quantum field theory of a model of an extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio type with a QCD based nonlocal fermion current-current interaction which has global SU(N/sub c/) symmetry. They obtain an exact bosonization of this model in four euclidean dimensions using auxiliary bilocal fields and discuss the dynamical breakdown of chiral symmetry in the massless fermion limit. A local field bosonization is obtained by decomposing the bilocal fields in terms of complete orthonormal sets of functions with the expansion coefficients, which are local functions, identified as the local meson fields. Retaining the ground state pseudoscalar, vector and pseudovector localmore » fields they obtain a local effective action for this sector of the theory. The derivative expansion of the fermionic determinant necessary to obtain this local action is self-regularizing because of the bilocal substructure present in the model which is manifest in the form factors that are associated with the local fields. In their local action the value of each coefficient depends critically on the underlying fermionic dynamics through these form factors and the vacuum functions. As a consequence of this the vector and pseudovector fields in the theory are best interpreted as simple fermion-antifermion bound states rather than as massive Yang-Mills fields or exotic composites of the pseudoscalars; interpretations that they find are not in general admitted when models such as the GCM are treated correctly.« less
  • We study the temperature dependence of the effective bag constant, the mass, and the radius of a nucleon in the formalism of the simple global color symmetry model in the Dyson-Schwinger equation approach of QCD with a Gaussian-type effective gluon propagator. We obtain that, as the temperature is lower than a critical value, the effective bag constant and the mass decrease and the radius increases with the temperature increasing. As the critical temperature is reached, the effective bag constant and the mass vanish and the radius tends to infinity. At the same time, the chiral quark condensate disappears. These phenomenamore » indicate that the deconfinement and the chiral symmetry restoration phase transitions can take place at high temperature. The dependence of the critical temperature on the interaction strength parameter in the effective gluon propagator of the approach is given.« less
  • A system possessing a global U(1) x U(1) symmetry and consisting of two complex scalar fields and a real scalar field is considered. The renormalized potential of the system is a quartic polynomial in the fields involved. It is shown that nontopological soliton Q-ball-like states exist in such a system. A set of nonlinear differential equations that describes such states is obtained. It is shown that, in the case of the thin-wall regime, the soliton configuration is absolutely stable with respect to a transition to a plane wave configuration. A universal dependence of the energy and charges of the solitonmore » configuration on the phase frequencies of rotation is obtained for the thick-wall regime. For a general case, the dependence of the energy and charges of the soliton configuration on the phase frequencies of rotation is constructed by numerical methods.« less
