Several experiments were performed in recent years with the Euroball and Gammasphere spectrometers to search for high-spin hyperdeformation in atomic nuclei. Possible evidence for hyperdeformation are the ridge structures with small energy separations observed in the A = 125 region in quasi-continuum {gamma}-ray correlation spectra. These ridges are only found when the highest-multiplicity events are selected in the data from experiments with the highest bombarding energies. A statistical analysis shows that the ridges are formed by ten or more bands and that the intensity of the individual bands is below 10-6 of the reaction-channel intensity.
