Nonmonotonic excitation rates in argon positive column
- CFD Research Corporation, Huntsville, Alabama, 35805 (United States)
Nonmonotonic radial distributions of electron excitation rates are obtained in simulations of positive column (PC) in argon for a wide range of gas pressures 5<p<100 Torr, in the tube of radius R=1 cm. This effect cannot be understood from the hydrodynamic point of view and has its origin in the peculiarities of electron kinetics in PC under the studied conditions.
