Bistability of liquid crystal microcavities

We develop a model of a liquid crystal Fabry-Perot microcavity. We study the homeotropic and the hybrid cavity configurations and show that both are multistable. Moreover, in the hybrid case a branch of solutions disconnected from the zero field solution exists.
