{beta}-decay studies for neutron-rich {pi}f7/2 - vfp shell nuclei have been systematically performed at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. The E(2{sub 1}{sup +}) values display a peak at N = 32 compared to neighboring isotopes revealing a subshell closure for this neutron number as predicted by pf-shell model calculations. However, a value of 1127 keV for E(2{sub 1}{sup +}) in 56Ti34, which is lower than that of neighboring 54Ti32 suggests the absence of a shell closure at N = 34 in the Ti isotopes, contrary to predictions.
