In this work we take the first steps towards a self-consistent Dirac Green's function approximation to asymmetric nuclear matter, by extending the Dirac Hartree-Fock (DHF) approximation, including the {sigma}, {omega}, {rho}, {delta}, {eta} and {pi} mesons, to take into account off-shell effects to the self-energy of the nucleons. This is done when one starts considering the general form of the nucleon propagator, taking into account its Dirac and isospin structure. After deriving the self-consistent equations for the mesons, we present a method which is useful in treating the problem numerically.
