Inorganic zinc (IOZ) primers have a long history of excellent weathering resistance on atmospheric surfaces and cathodic protection of substrates on immersion surfaces. Yet there are far too many reported failures caused by difficult-to-apply IOZ. Some of the more common failures seen with IOZ and organic topcoats are explored.
