Performance degradation of a photovoltaic array after 13 years of operation

Conference ·
OSTI ID:20050686
This paper presents a statistical analysis for practical measurements and tests carried out on a photovoltaic (PV) system after 13 years of operation in a complete system for RO-desalination at the Red Sea coast, in Egypt. The performance tests of the PV modules were done under real outdoor conditions (climatic conditions) at the PV lab, NREA, Cairo using a portable field array tester. A sample of 48 module test results was studied and the average percentage degradation in: output power at the maximum power point (P{sub max}), the efficiency, short circuit current (I{sub s.c}) and open circuit voltage (V{sub o.c}) was found to be 42%, 45%, 38% and 10%, respectively.
