This paper presents the results of the validation analysis of an analytical model of heat transfer from slab-on-grade floor slabs. The analytical model, based on the Interzone Temperature Profile Estimation (ITPE) procedure, can predict the total slab heat loss over an entire year. The ITPE model predictions are compared to measured data for two houses monitored for 4 years. Agreement within 12% is found for the annual mean and amplitude of the total slab heat loss when a simple characteristic size parameter is used to represent the irregular shape of the slab foundation. However, the phase shift for the slab heat loss was not predicted adequately by the model.
