Title: Experiments on adiabatic two-phase flow of refrigerant through capillary tubes (In the case of subcooled refrigerant liquid at the inlet)

An experimental study on adiabatic two-phase flow for refrigerant HCFC22 with compressor oil through capillary tubes has been carried out. The experimental apparatus consists mainly of evaporator, compressor, condenser and test capillary tube. The I.D. and length of the capillary tubes used are 1.4 mm and 1.2 m, respectively. Considering the influence of the inner surface state, only two points of pressure were measured near the inlet and exit with two {phi}0.8 mm holes at the inlet and exit, respectively. The test ranges of mass flow rate and inlet pressure are 30 to 60 kg/h and 1.5 to 2.1 MPa, respectively, while the range of inlet subcooling is 0.3 to 16 K, exit quality is 0 to 17%, and the oil concentration is 0 to 3.2%. The tests were performed under steady state while the inlet subcooling was stepped down (Case A) or up (Case B) slowly. There was a difference in pressure drop between Cases A and B, which is considered due to the difference in the delay of vaporization. And the measured data were correlated by using the homogeneous two-phase flow model.
