Modified Bethe-Bloch stopping power parameters for kapton

Journal Article · · International Journal of Quantum Chemistry

Values of the parameters of the modified Bethe-Bloch theory have been ascertained for kapton by analyzing recent measurements of stopping powers for 0.56--1.54-MeV protons and 1.08--3.19-MeV alpha particles. The resulting recommended values of the target parameters are 80.1 eV for mean excitation energy and 1.64 for the Barkas-effect parameter and 1.86 for a single effective-charge parameter assigned to the kapton-alpha particle target-projectile combination.
