The Enhanced Ozone Monitoring Regulation, commonly called Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations (PAMS), was promulgated on February 12, 1993. With PAMS, gas chromatographs (GCs) and meteorological instrumentation will be routinely operated in the field with expected data capture rates and quality assurance results similar to criteria pollutant network. PAMS data submittal will be difficult since more parameters are to be reported into the Aerometric Information Retrieval System (AIRS). Efforts in the first year have focused on determining the location for the type 2 PAMS site, developing a network design, and developing quality assurance programs. The Regions and States look forward to developing a quality PAMS Program that will satisfy the data needs for modeling, emission reduction tracking, trends analysis, etc.
