Liquid-vanadium experimental facility for blanket problems investigation

This paper describes a new experimental liquid lithium facility for investigating the corrosion/mass transfer and stability of electrical insulator self-healing coatings in the self-cooled vanadium-lithium blanket. This monometallic test facility is constructed of V-4Ti-4Cr alloy and simulates conditions projected for a fusion reactor blanket. The test vanadium alloy - liquid lithium facility will provide test velocities up to 4 m/s, temperatures up to {approximately}700{degrees}C and system temperature difference up to 250{degrees}C. The facility provides for control and monitoring of impurities in liquid lithium.
