Fatigue crack propagation behavior was examined under mixed mode by using specimens with a notch inclined in the thickness direction or a semi-spherical pit. In the case of the notched specimen of 2017-T4 Aluminum alloy, different modes of crack propagation appear depending on the notch length. In the case of the pitted specimen of 2090-T3 Aluminum-Lithium alloy, mixed mode crack propagation can be observed when the rolling direction is parallel to the loading direction. The effective stress intensity factor range {Delta}K{sub p,eff} of mode I type was calculated from the projected crack length and normal stress in the loading direction, and it was found that data for crack propagation rate da/dN can be described within a small deviation in terms of {Delta}K{sub p,eff} only.
