Biological safety, or biosafety, means containment principles, technologies and practices that are implemented to prevent unintentional exposure to pathogens and toxins, or their accidental release. This report is a training course for Biosafety with these features and objectives: Topics associated with biological safety, including basic terms, definitions, and approaches to biological safety; regulations, consensus guidance and standards for biological safety; safety requirements for working with biological materials at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL); containment requirements for biological materials at LANL; and, emergency response requirements for biological materials at LANL.
