Search for heavy top-like quarks decaying to a Higgs boson and a top quark in the lepton plus jets final state in p p collisions at s = 8 TeV with the ATLAS detector

Study of events with final states consisting of a single isolated lepton + jets + missing transverse momentum produced in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data sample has an integrated luminosity of 14.3 fb-1 collected during 2012. The leptons (electron or muon) are required to be isolated and have moderately high transverse momentum. The data is used in a search for a heavy up-type quark together with its antiparticle, assuming a significant branching ratio for subsequent decay into a SM Higgs boson and a top quark. The search exploits the high total transverse momentum of all final state objects and a high multiplicity of b jets. This record gives the HT distribution where HT is the scalar sum of the PT of the charged lepton, ET(missing) and the PT of the jets.
