Creating an MPAS Ocean Shallow Water Core in Julia [Slides]

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/1829622· OSTI ID:1829622

An MPAS model was created in Julia to test its potential for scientific HPC. Tradeoff between execution speed and development speed: Development languages (e.g. Python) are easy, but slow and production languages (e.g. C) are hard, but fast. Julia aims to be the best of both.
