Muon catalyzed fusion: The status and perspectives

The main features and the state of the art of muon catalyzed fusion (MCF) are presented. The different applications of MCF in atomic, molecular and nuclear physics are discussed. The possible practical applications of MCF for the production of the intense 14 MeV neutron source and the nuclear fuel are outlined.
