Frequency domain (FD) detection and precoding have been shown to be effective means of approaching the theoretical per-user capacity for single carrier modulation SCM) schemes. When a cyclic prefix is added to the SCM waveform, the circulant structures of the resulting convolutional channel matrix allows for relatively simple expressions for the FD processing, and achieves performance near the theoretical capacity even for high signal to noise ratio values. This paper details the signal processing for uplink and downlink multi-user operation with a multi-antenna base station.
