  1. AECL CANDU, Mississauga, Ontario (Canada)
Canada`s connection with nuclear power stretches back to the earliest origins of the field when Ernest Rutherford moved from Cambridge in 1898 to head a new laboratory at Montreal`s McGill University. From these beginnings the CANDU reactor has become a world leader and a substantial and diverse Canadian nuclear industry has evolved. This industry boasts highly developed research, design and build capabilities, specialized manufacturing, uranium mining, heavy water production, medical products and a respected regulatory authority. This report presents an overview of Canada`s nuclear program.
