A viscoelastic viscoplastic damage model (VPVD)
- Los Alamos National Lab. (LANL), Los Alamos, NM (United States)
This report documents the development, implementation, and parameter estimation procedures for aviscoelastic-viscoplastic-viscodamage model. This model is being developed to improve the predictive accuracy of simulations involving plastic bonded explosives (PBX). A representative PBX is PBX9501, which is 95% by weight HMX, 2.5% estane binder and 2.5% nitroplasticizer. Mechanical deformation of this material is primarily accommodated by straining of the polymer binder and rearranging the relatively rigid HMX crystals.
