IrH is Wurtzite structured and crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3mc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ir is bonded to four equivalent H atoms to form distorted corner-sharing IrH4 trigonal pyramids. There is one shorter (1.77 Å) and three longer (1.90 Å) Ir–H bond length. H is bonded to four equivalent Ir atoms to form distorted corner-sharing HIr4 trigonal pyramids.
