  1. Plasma Technology Inc., Santa Fe, NM (United States)
Plasma Technology, Inc. (PTI), a Santa Fe, New Mexico corporation has developed a thermal cycle and conversion process using induction coupled plasma (ICP) technology as a safe and environmentally clean alternative to conventional thermal destruction technologies. This treatment process has been called the ``Plasma Energy Recycle and Conversion`` (PERC{trademark}) process. The PERC{trademark} treatment process uses an induction coupled plasma torch as its heat source coupled to a reaction chamber system to convert waste streams and other materials of any kind into usable by-products in a safe and environmentally clean manner. Even though plasma torches have been used for thermal waste destruction for a number of years, the approach of using induction coupled plasma (ICP) technology for waste conversion is relatively new. For applications of waste and material treatment improved ICP torches offer a variety of advantages over conventional waste destruction methods such as incineration and DC arc plasma technology. Recently the first production scale system using ICP technology has been completed and started for the application of safe and environmentally clean destruction of energetic materials.
