Production of O2 on icy satellites by electronic excitation of low-temperature water ice

To probe the origin of the oxygen atmospheres surrounding the Jovian moons Ganymede and Europa, we investigated the low-energy (<_ 100 eV) electron-stimulated production and desorption of O2 from amorphous water ice.
