The Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) technique using an optical fiber sensor is quite a new method in temperature logging. Using OTDR technique and temperature dependency of the Raman backscattering light, it is possible to measure the temperature along the entire length of the optical fiber. Feasibility and durability of the DTS system in common geothermal well environment (up to the depth of 1750 m and 240{degrees}C) was tested in field experiments. The measured temperature showed good agreement with the temperature obtained by traditional point probe methods, and also the durability of the optical fiber sensor was proved. The maximum standard deviation of measured data is 1.3{degrees}C at the depth of 1750 m and 195{degrees}C condition. Only the DTS technique enables us to make simultaneous monitoring of the temperature profile of the well. Temporal change of the temperature profile with cold water injection test was clearly detected by DTS technique.
