  1. Ceramics Kingston Ceramiques Inc., Ontario (Canada); and others
Molybdenum disilicide prepared by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) using a proprietary process developed at Ceramics Kingston Ceramics Inc., has been consolidated either by hot pressing or hot pressing followed by hot isostatic pressing. In addition, the same material has been reinforced with 20 vol% silicon carbide whiskers (also manufactured by CKCI). Physical characteristics and some mechanical properties of these materials are presented.
