In this paper, interactive grain boundary sliding is considered to result in the formation of wedge cracks at triple junctions in a polycrystal. This preliminary study focuses on the modeling of interactive sliding in terms of the pile-up of grain boundary dislocation groups around triple points. Discrete dislocations with finite Burgers vectors are analyzed. Computational results are obtained for the positions of the grain boundary dislocations, the stress concentrations at the triple points, the energy of the dislocation groups, and the energy of a crack wedged open by dislocations.
