BePt2Au crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two BePt2Au ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Be2+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Pt2- atoms. Both Be–Pt bond lengths are 2.04 Å. Pt2- is bonded in a linear geometry to one Be2+ and one Au2+ atom. The Pt–Au bond length is 2.62 Å. Au2+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Pt2- atoms.
