Au2CdZn crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two Au2CdZn ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Au is bonded in a linear geometry to one Cd and one Zn atom. The Au–Cd bond length is 2.62 Å. The Au–Zn bond length is 2.54 Å. Cd is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Au atoms. Zn is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Au atoms.
