AgClO3 crystallizes in the trigonal R3m space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of three AgClO3 sheets oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Ag is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to three equivalent O atoms. All Ag–O bond lengths are 2.59 Å. O is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to one Ag and one Cl atom. The O–Cl bond length is 1.51 Å. Cl is bonded in a trigonal non-coplanar geometry to three equivalent O atoms.
