Pt3Bi is Uranium Silicide structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Pt+0.67- is bonded to eight equivalent Pt+0.67- and four equivalent Bi2+ atoms to form PtBi4Pt8 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent PtBi4Pt8 cuboctahedra, edges with eight equivalent BiPt12 cuboctahedra, edges with sixteen equivalent PtBi4Pt8 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent BiPt12 cuboctahedra, and faces with fourteen equivalent PtBi4Pt8 cuboctahedra. All Pt–Pt bond lengths are 2.96 Å. All Pt–Bi bond lengths are 2.96 Å. Bi2+ is bonded to twelve equivalent Pt+0.67- atoms to form BiPt12 cuboctahedra that share corners with twelve equivalent BiPt12 cuboctahedra, edges with twenty-four equivalent PtBi4Pt8 cuboctahedra, faces with six equivalent BiPt12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent PtBi4Pt8 cuboctahedra.
