  1. North American Fuel Cell Owners Group, Pittsburgh, PA (United States)
The North American Fuel Cell Owners Group has successfully operated a fleet of over twenty 200 kW fuel cell power plants in a real world environment. These PC25{trademark} phosphoric acid fuel cells, designed and manufactured by ONSI{reg_sign}, have accumulated over 225,000 hours of unattended, automatic operation at various building sites covering a wide range of thermal recoveries and electric grids. MTBFD values are already in excess of 2,000 hours which is already threefold better than already mature gas turbine and engine technology. Moreover, corrected availabilities are already in excess of 96 percent for first-of-a-kind units. The PC25{trademark} power plant, designed and built by ONSI{reg_sign}, is the world`s first truly commercial fuel cell. The experience gained and lessons learned from this 200 kW fuel cell program have conclusively validated the phosphoric acid fuel cell technology and have key elements applicable to the entire emerging fuel cell industry.
