Elbow ratcheting: Analysis and experiment

Experimental work and analytical parametric studies of ratcheting in pressurized elbows have been conducted at the University of Akron and published in a number of previous papers. It is the objective of this paper to review this work on elbow ratcheting. Measured ratcheting strains have also been compared to finite element analyses. Agreement is believed to be acceptable. In addition, finite element parametric studies of elbows with various curvatures have been completed. Results are described.
